In A Galaxy Far Far Away....

One of the things I love about being a mom, is getting to see the excitement in my kids eyes and voices over the tiniest things. Our house was filled with excitement tonight when a package arrived at the front door. For 4 days, Ryker has anxiously been awaiting the delivery of his Halloween costume. Many times a day he would peek out to see if anything was there. Well, today was the big day. When he saw the package, he tore into it like it was Christmas morning. Then, right there in front of him was.........DARTH VADER. The look on his face was priceless and I honestly think I could hear his heart skip a beat. We couldn't get our little Vader dressed quickly enough. The whole night was a Darth Vader night....and when bedtime came, well......that came way too soon. So, Darth Vader went to bed in costume with his sacred mask laying right on his pillow. I had to ask myself, does it get any better than this?

School's In!

August 14th was a busy day!!  We celebrated a birthday and Rei started first grade.  When I tucked her in bed last night, all of the memories that I had from when I was a kid came flooding back.....trying to go to sleep when you are so anxious, scared, excited, curious, thinking who will I sit by, who will I eat lunch with, who will play with me on the playground......so many emotions......  My little girl was feeling those same emotions that I felt 30 some years ago!  The first day of school proved to be a great day and just the beginning of many more great days ahead!  We are blessed to be at an amazing school with outstanding teachers.

Happy Birthday Rhett!!

August was a very busy month in the Moore household.  Rhett and I celebrated birthdays, we had friends from Texas come to visit, we had a party for friends who now live in the Maldive Islands, and Reiley started first grade!  As the months go by so quickly, I realize how precious each day is. When my baby turned 2, I realized that was a milestone for us.  We no longer have a baby in our house, but a true toddler is living with us!  I seem to really relish in those "last" moments.  I remember rocking Rhett in the middle of the night when he was a baby thinking I needed to cherish the moment, because this was my last baby that I would get to rock.  And now, that my baby is 2, we are entering a whole new realm.  The "baby" era is completely behind me.....no more middle of the night feedings, rockings, bottles, walking the floor because nothing else is working......it's bitter sweet.  My sweet baby is now talking, and of course, saying the cutest things.  Nothing melts my heart more than, "Mommy, I hold you," when he wants to be held.  Or, tank cho, (thank you), or scooze me (excuse me) or lu you (love you), or happen mommy? when I say, "uh oh" or "oops".  Ok, so ALMOST anything that comes out of his mouth  melts my  heart!!!  Yes, he has me wrapped completely around that little pinky of his, but, that's ok.  After all, this is just one more of those "last moments" that I get to relish in.....

Party Time!!

It's hard to believe that my "baby girl" just turned 7.  She loves to hear the story about the

day she was born and how I cried and cried when I held her for the first time.  She is just

as sweet today as she was 7 years ago......what a blessing!!   She really wanted a circus party this

year.  So...we turned our backyard into a circus and invited all of her classmates from kindergarden.   Whisker's the Clown entertained us (and did a fantastic job!), David did the grilling for us, my sweet friend Ellen even painted faces.  Despite the blazing heat, Reiley had a birthday party to remember for years to come!!
